Safety Culture

ENSI oversees the safety culture of the Swiss nuclear installations. It defines the concept of safety culture for the purposes of its oversight as follows:

Safety culture includes values shared by the members of the operator’s organisation, world views, verbal and non-verbal behaviour, and characteristics of the man-made physical environment. The safety culture includes those values, world views, behaviours, and environmental characteristics that determine or show how members of the organisation approach safety.

    The Country-Specific Safety Culture Forum Switzerland took place in Bern on 19 and 20 November 2024. Representatives from various institutions discussed Switzerland’s national culture and analysed its influence on the safety and oversight culture of nuclear facilities.
