Irradiated fuel elements are packed into transport and storage containers after a few years’ storage in the operational fuel pond and transferred to the Beznau interim storage facility (ZwiBez) for dry storage.

ZwiBez is located on the premises of the Beznau Nuclear Power Plant. It is used for the interim storage of spent fuel and low-level waste.
