Based on the Radiation Protection Training Ordinance, ENSI oversees radiation protection training. This includes, among other things, the approval of courses for the radiation protection personnel of nuclear installations. The legal requirements regulate the areas of application and the so-called “permitted activities” for radiation protection personnel in the three categories radiation protection practitioners, radiation protection technicians and radiation protection specialists. The recognition of the personnel requires participation in an ENSI-recognised training course lasting several weeks, plus sufficient practical experience in radiation protection. Recognised radiation protection personnel must also undergo regular training. ENSI specifies the legal requirements associated with the training of radiation protection in its guideline ENSI-B13 “Training and further training of radiation protection personnel”.
The Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) offers various training and further training courses recognised by ENSI for radiation protection practitioners (category 1), for radiation protection technicians (category 2) and for radiation protection specialists (category 3)
