Radiation Protection

Radiation protection serves to protect personnel, the population and the surroundings of nuclear installations against ionising radiation.

ENSI deals with occupational radiological protection, dosimetry, radiation measurement systems, radioactive emissions and environmental monitoring, as well as with the radiological impact of accidents.

    ENSI experts collaborate in the European harmonisation of emergency protection measures

    In future, there are to be no further contradictions between neighbouring countries with regard to emergency measures in the immediate aftermath of serious nuclear accidents. Europe’s two most important bodies for nuclear oversight and radiation protection have developed the so-called HERCA-WENRA Approach in order to bring about harmonisation.

    The ENSI Board is appointing Rosa Sardella as new Director of the Division for Radiation Protection

    Rosa Sardella is to be the new Director of the Division for Radiation Protection at the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI. The ENSI Board has appointed the 47 year old, who holds a doctorate in nuclear engineering, as the successor to retiring Division Director Georges Piller, effective July 1st, 2016.
