IAEA General Conference 2026: focus on the rapid expansion of nuclear energy and regulatory change
ENSI was part of the Swiss delegation at the IAEA General Conference. Together with other regulatory authorities, ENSI advocated for the maintenance of high safety standards. This is all the more important in a context characterised by the rapid global growth in the use of nuclear energy.

Fire Protection in Nuclear Facilities: Switzerland submits action plan
Switzerland has submitted its national action plan for the second Topical Peer Review (TPR II) on fire protection in nuclear facilities to the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG) by the deadline. The action plan addresses and follows up on both the areas identified for improvement and those where performance is already good.

Nuclear installations with low hazard potential
The Paul Scherrer Institute plans to start a research project. The intention is to test a molten salt reactor. If this nuclear installation has a low hazard potential, no general licence will be required. ENSI specifies the requirements that must be met for a nuclear installation with low hazard potential.

Change in Leadership of the Nuclear Power Plants Division at ENSI
Dr. Annette Ramezanian is stepping down from her position at the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI and will leave ENSI on October 30, 2026.
