“We look forward to welcoming Poland as another important partner for information exchange and cooperation on a wide range of nuclear regulation topics,” says ENSI Director Hans Wanner. Poland is currently planning the construction of its first nuclear power plant and therefore, as an embarking country, focus partly on different aspects of nuclear safety than Switzerland. Hans Wanner went on to say that “This different focus is fostering the exchange of information between authorities.”

The advantage of international collaboration for ENSI includes not only gaining knowledge for its own regulatory role but also in promoting Swiss concerns in the preparation of international nuclear safety and security regulations.

ENSI has already concluded similar bilateral cooperation agreements with Germany, France, Italy, Austria, the USA, Finland, Canada and the EU. With the same aim, Switzerland also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Iran at this year’s IAEA General Conference.
