ENSI submitted its status report on the Swiss Action Plan to the EU at the end of 2012. In the report, ENSI describes the extent to which recommendations on improving the safety of Switzerland’s nuclear power plants have already been implemented, together with an outline of the ongoing procedure.

The recommendations covered by the status report were drafted by the European Nuclear Safety Regulator Group (ENSREG) in connection with the EU Stress Test. During 2012, ENSREG conducted peer reviews in which the EU experts assessed the national reports that were submitted at the end of December 2011.

In February of this year, ENSI will publish the national Fukushima Action Plan for 2013, which is the follow-up document to the 2012 Action Plan. The 2012 Action Plan deals with various checkpoints that were identified in autumn 2011 in the course of the Lessons Learned exercise, as well as open issues as listed in the Swiss national report for the EU Stress Test.

The ENSREG Action Plan stipulates that every country participating in the Stress Test should develop a national Action Plan. Each year, the supervisory authorities of the European countries draw up national Action Plans which define the measures to be implemented during that year.
