National borders have become less important in the nuclear sector. This makes it important for us in Europe to have a shared understanding of safety for nuclear plants at the level of the authorities, so that the requirements in all European countries are comparable. The safety of nuclear plants is no longer merely a country-specific task, but a European and global remit.
